SLIP-SLIDIN AWAY? NOT REALLY

During the middle of winter, I received a call from my mother; telling me that my uncle was in the hospital. As I was the family member who lived closest, it seemed right for me to go see him, althouh it meant a long drive.

As I drove up the first icy mountain pass, it began to snow, and I became afraid the car would slip off the road. Immediately, I recalled the many times when I had been completely protected from danger by relying on God.

Soon the snow turned to rain, and I came to a major interstate highway. By that time, I was no longer afraid. As I traveled along, the thought occurred to me that I needed to slow down. A few seconds after this, my car began to spin out of control. There were mountains on one side, and the median and a cliff on the other side. As my car spun toward the median, I declared out loud, "God is right here, now!"
