YOUR LETTERS

"Who could possibly slump back into old viewpoints and thought patterns after reading this!"

At 3:30 a.m., I was lying in bed mulling over a problem in a personal relationship and finally decided to prayerfully study. The first thing I saw was a back issue of the Sentinel that had arrived six weeks earlier. The healing message contained in one article reminded me of what Mrs. Eddy says, "As a cloud hides the sun it cannot extinguish, so false belief silences for a while the voice of immutable harmony, but false belief cannot destroy Science armed with faith, hope, and fruition" (Science and Health, p. 298).

I saw this recently when a friend of mine came to visit and brought photos she had taken while appearing in a film for which I also had auditioned but not gotten a part. My friend was excited and pleased, and I was very happy for her. I felt no envy or jealousy while looking at the photos—just gratitude for her good fortune. During the conversation, she mentioned that the director had finished shooting.

At this point, I did feel a pang of regret. No chance of my ever getting a part now! The next day, Friday, my agent called. The same director wanted to see me urgently. By Monday, I was on the set playing a small but pivotal role.
