Psalm 91 leads to healing of flu

Before my study of Christian Science began, I thought of God as far away. I believed that He couldn't possibly know me. Now I know that God is ever-present, omnipotent Love and that He knows me as His beloved child.

This precious understanding meant a great deal to me when I woke one morning with all the symptoms of the flu. I decided to ring a Christian Science practitioner and ask for prayerful treatment. She agreed to pray with me, and I was asked to read Psalm 91. This beautiful psalm reminded me that in truth I dwell in the divine consciousness, "the secret place," and that God's protecting love keeps me free of all evil that would try to claim me, including contagion.

I found this wonderful promise particularly comforting: "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him" (verse 15). This assured me that I can always turn to God in every circumstance and know that He will be with me, giving me His spiritual ideas that bless and heal.
