A battle plan for healing homesickness

Do you ever feel afraid, but you're not sure why? Here's a true story about a boy who felt that way—and decided to fight back!

Luke was not a happy camper. He was at summer camp for two weeks, one thousand miles from home, and he just couldn't sleep. During the day, camp was fun. There were friends and exciting activities like hiking, swimming, rock climbing, and horseback riding. He almost forgot about being homesick until the lights went out at night and he was left alone with his thoughts ... and his stomach. Sleeping away from his home didn't feel right. It made his stomach cramp up and churn.

After a week of sleepless nights, Luke was about at the end of his rope. "What's wrong with me?" he thought. "Why am I like this?" It was almost as if some evil monster took over his life at night and imprisoned him with dark, frightening thoughts. Finally, he decided to talk to his parents about the problem.
