Labels dropped in the aftermath of a divorce
How spiritual vision brought harmony to my interactions with my ex-husband
Identity is defined in many ways—physical appearance, ethnic background, education, relationship status, employment, income, and so forth. All too often these identifications become labels used to describe us. Sometimes they are positive, while at other times they would tend to put us down or hold us back.
We can reject physical labels, character labels, any label that links us to a fleshly life or a flawed nature. At the same time, we can discover our true identity—an identity not based on anything physical or external or flawed, but on our spiritual nature as children of God.
This spiritual nature of man is introduced in the Bible in Genesis, which explains that we are actually created in the image and likeness of God and that we are "very good" (see verses 26, 27, 31).
