The Science of Christ—the gift of living to love and to heal

True love for humanity rests on law—the law of God.

Did you know that every time you express pure love—no matter how large or small the expression—you're revealing the existence of God, divine Love, and what you reflect of His nature, your oneness with Him? That's because "God is love" (I John 4:16). It's as sure as exhibiting the existence of music whenever you hum "Twinkle, twinkle, little star." You may be happy humming simple tunes, or you may want to learn a complex aria. Yet even if all you know is that one simple tune, you can still hum it with delight. You decide how much you wish to know and put into practice.

As in music, so it is with your godliness. You can choose how much you wish to understand and express of God, but it is only while you are loving from the standpoint of divine Love that you will feel your oneness with God.

Christ Jesus was a great example of this. He taught us not only to live love actively in our own lives, but also to call on divine Love in our moments of greatest need. Through his unspotted life, we learn that there is a Science behind the living of love and its healing effects. He even identified for us the two commandments on which this Science of Christ is based: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Matt. 22:37–40). Together, these commandments articulate the law of Love, which is consistently provable.
