The lie and the liar behind illness and injury
Take a stand for Truth.
The disciple Peter described Christ Jesus' healing work by saying that he "went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil" (Acts 10:38).
This statement stunned me. I'd never realized before that whatever problem Jesus faced—fever, deafness, blindness, lameness, paralysis, death—each was a form of the same problem, the devil's oppression, in other words, the individual with the problem had been "oppressed of the devil." Add to this what Jesus said of the devil: "... he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44). I then realized I could paraphrase Peter's statement to say that Jesus "went about doing good, and healing all who were being pressured into believing a lie."
Since the Biblically revealed truth of man is that he is made in the image and likeness of God, hence perfect, any evidence of imperfection cannot be true, but represents a lie.
