Reliance on God removes unsightly growth

When a visible and disfiguring growth appeared on one of my eyelids, I decided to rely unequivocally on God for healing. Because I'd been healed by turning to God in prayer before, I wasn't surprised when the decision to turn prayerfully to God for help had an immediate and empowering effect on my thinking. Many spiritual truths came to mind.

The first idea I thought about was that God, Spirit, created man in His image. I reasoned that as God's child I must therefore be wholly spiritual. I could not be a material being, because God did not create matter. Life is God, and there is no Life in matter. Thus matter did not constitute any part of my true, perfect selfhood. I also found this statement in Science and Health most helpful: "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (p. 463). As I pondered this, it became clear to me that nothing disfiguring could attach itself to me. As the reflection of God, I can express only harmony and perfection. Day by day as my thoughts were filled with these truths, the growth began to decrease in size. In a very short time it completely disappeared.
