Prayer heals knee pain

Not too long ago, I began to experience great pain in one my knees, which made it very difficult to walk. I found it difficult to climb the numerous stairs to my apartment. Since I needed to do this several times a day, I became quite concerned. I recognized that I had been hearing a lot lately about—and from—people who were experiencing knee difficulties. While I had acknowledged how grateful I was for Christian Science, I had not included mankind in my prayers. I had not included that was the first thing I needed to do. As I prayed, I could see that God's love embraces everyone, and pain or disability could never be a part of man's experience.

When the pain got more intense, I engaged a Christian Science practitioner, who treated me through prayer. During this time, I saw the importance of not giving in to this as a reality, so I refused to limp. Instead, with literally each step I took, I prayed with the ideas in the hymn that begins, "I walk with Love along the way" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 139). I was skimming through the newspaper. An advertisement for a seminar, where you could find out what was causing the pain in your knee, caught my eye. At first I was surprised that there could even be such a seminar. Then I realized that this was more evidence that I needed to be sure to include all of mankind in my prayers. Since God is All and is only good, He could never produce pain. There was, then, no other cause that could produce anything unlike good, and therefore nothing to create pain to plague mankind.
