FEELING TRAPPED AT WORK?

I was dissatisfied in my position as a software developer at a high tech firm. I felt the company could not offer me what I wanted, yet I hadn't been there long enough to leave without making an unfavorable impression on my present and future employers. I felt trapped.

One weekend I prayed earnestly for an answer, and this idea came to my thought: in the kingdom of heaven there are no traps —there is only an open door that "no man can shut"(Rev.3:8). Realizing that I, as a child of God, could not be trapped convinced me there was a satisfying solution to my situation. So I opened my thought to other possibilities, not having any particular outcome in mind, but just listening for step-by-step guidance from God. I made a few inquiries about other positions, and I reviewed the classified ads in the Sunday paper.

The solution came on Monday morning. My boss told me how much he had appreciated the work I had been doing. He was creating a new position in the division especially for me, which meant a promotion and new responsibilities. The new position favorably addressed every complaint I'd had about my job. I happily filled the new slot.
