"ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD"

One of my favorite Bible verses is, "My beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" (I Cor. 15:58). I love the work-related direction and guidance this verse provides and its promise of answered prayer.

Being steadfast and unmoveable means to me sticking to the Truth and not letting anything deter us from our God-given work — expressing and glorifying Him in whatever we're doing, despite whatever may distract us. And knowing that our "labour is not in vain in the Lord" assures us that our prayers will be answered — that we'll be healed of whatever difficulty we're facing, no matter how long it may have gone on.

I also like the part about "always abounding in the work of the Lord." Abound is defined: "1. To be in abundance; be plentiful. 2. To have plenty; be rich. 3. To be full; teem" (Funk & Wagnalls Standard Encyclopedic Dictionary). This definition reveals even more beauty in this verse — a promise of supply, both of abundant work and rightful compensation.
