Made new again

Right now the house across the way from ours doesn't look much like I know it will in a few weeks. Most of the old paint has been scraped away. On the front lawn is some lumber and siding. There's a ladder lying on its side, tucked under a large tree. When our daughter returned home from college recently and saw this house for the first time in over a year, she didn't know it was being painted and brought up to date. "What happened to that?" she said with some alarm. My response surprised her. I said I was thrilled at what was going on, and that what she was looking at represented progress. A longawaited home-improvement project had begun. What she was seeing was good news!
