Be careful what you pray for...
An interview with Larry Dossey, M.D.
Last month the department of continuing education at Harvard Medical School and the Mind/Body Medical Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, held another conference in Boston on "Spirituality & Healing in Medicine."
One of the featured speakers was Dr. Larry Dossey, who is executive editor of the journal Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and author of the 1993 bestseller Healing Words. More recently, he has written Prayer is Good Medicine and Be Careful What You Pray For ... You Just Might Get It (both published by HarperSanFrancisco).
In an exclusive Sentinel interview, Dr. Dossey began with some observations on American medical schools' heightened interest in exploring the role of spirituality and religious practice in health.
