Glandular disorder cured

Each week since its beginning in 1898, the Christian Science Sentinel has published a representative sample of verified testimonies of healing, told in their own words by men, women, and children throughout the world.

I was raised in a family that relied on medical means for healing, so it was natural for my parents to take me to a doctor when a very dear aunt noticed swelling in my neck. The doctor diagnosed an enlarged thyroid gland, similar to the glandular problem many other female family members experienced. He prescribed daily medication, which I took, and my neck returned to its normal size.

I was not comfortable having to take a pill every day, though, so I decided to stop taking the medication. The swelling returned, but for quite a few years I simply ignored it. When the swelling became increasingly noticeable and caused discomfort, I visited a doctor specializing in this area of medicine. She agreed that medication was definitely necessary for the condition, which she diagnosed as goiter. The doctor also said that this condition could not be cured, only treated, and that I would need to take the medication for the rest of my life. I followed her treatment regularly for a few years, and the gland returned to its normal size.
