Studies in the 1950s and 1960s identified the strongest kinship link as being the one between mothers and daughters. Now, the amount of contact between these two is declining, according to research by the Family Policy Studies Centre. The proportion of women who see their mothers weekly has dropped from 64% to 45%. The director of the centre, Ceridwen Roberts, commented, "Full-time working women—even when they have children—are becoming more like working men in the amount of contact they have with their own mothers and other key extended family members."
