The hug of heaven
What would it be like to hug infinity?
I once knew a deeply religious mathematics teacher who wrestled with this question. He used to say that infinity was a number—it couldn't be added, subtracted, multiplied, or divided—but beyond that he couldn't describe it. I shared his wonder. We could intellectually define infinity as without a beginning or an end, eternity, everlastingness—yet the concept eluded material definitions.
How can we enfold infinity in us? Answer: we can't—it enfolds us. We are all in God's infinite embrace. Beyond all space, Love surrounds everything. How can we not love or be loved when we are inextricably in the midst of Love?
