What a joy to be writings this!
What a joy to be writings this! The last time I wrote a testimony I had been ill in bed for a few days and had asked for treatment through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner. Since I was strong enough to hold a pen and paper, I decided to express my gratitude to God by acknowledging a few of the healings that had already been mine through Christian Science. Recognizing these experiences left no doubt that God's power would prevail here, too. When I finished writing I called the practitioner.
In our brief telephone conversation he read to me a single sentence from Science and Health that made it quite clear to me that neither God nor my body was causing me to be sick, only fear. We need to obey God, not fear. After I hung up the phone, I suddenly felt indignant at the suggestion that I could be sick. I absolutely was not afraid of anything that God had not sent, since without God it obviously had no power. I got myself out of bed and over to the table where I could finish some paperwork. When I had done that, it seemed possible to get myself showered and dressed, and then to eat. At this point I was so certain that all I needed to obey was God, that I walked the letters to the post office, two blocks away, rejoicing with each step. It was the middle of winter, snowing lightly. So grateful was I for understanding that God was in charge that I went running that afternoon. How I rejoiced! When I got home not so much as a sniffle remained.
