Spiritual healing and the care of children
A New mother neared a breaking point. Her young daughter was ill with colic. The mother longed to relieve her baby's suffering. She made a telephone call, talked a few moments, hung up. And found that her daughter was healed. Her own letter reviews the episode. "Kara is now 4½ and is a happy, happy child. She is thriving. It was in August of '91 that I called you very early in the morning. (I had forgotten about the 3-hour time change.) What you said to me on the phone was exactly what I needed to hear. Kara woke up that morning and has not stopped smiling since then!"
What happened? What could bring about this sudden change? The mother was calling for prayer. She was turning to someone committed to Christian Science healing. She was praying herself. In the brief phone conversation they had talked of a Bible story—the three Hebrews thrown into the fiery furnace.
"Do you know why those young men didn't burn up in the fire?"
