A QUESTIONS & ANSWERS EXCHANGE

Are there questions you'd like to explore with other readers and with the editorial staff of the Christian Science Sentinel? This column offers a place for that exchange to happen. What's here isn't intended to give the definitive answer. The queries and the ideas spring from the heart, as we are walking side by side.

Q. How does Christian Science view creation?—from a high-school student in a comparative religion class in Illinois

A. By accepting what is revealed in the first account of creation in Genesis as the true record. It must be added that this Scriptural inspired record opens us to the reality of man and the universe as entirely spiritual. God, Spirit, creates man as His own image—the perfect likeness of perfect Spirit. All that God creates, including man, is good. There is no indication here of any creation of disease, sin, or death. God is the only creator, and His creation is complete. The Bible says, "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them" (Gen. 2:1).
