For many years I have kept track of my healings in a little notebook so that I could see my spiritual progress. Here are a few: I was healed of diarrhea by understanding that our thinking must be transformed; of seasonal colds by learning to love my neighbor more; of a serious back problem by obeying the Ninth Commandment (Ex. 20:16); of headaches by recognizing that there is no pressure in divine Love. And there are many more!
Recently, however, I had one of the quickest and spiritually clearest healings ever. I started to get a really bad sore throat and cough. A few days before, I had been reading Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, and this statement had stayed with me: "Thought imbued with purity, Truth, and Love, instructed in the Science of metaphysical healing, is the most potent and desirable remedial agent on the earth" (p. 4). I saw clearly that the place where healing takes place is not in a pure body but in a thought purified with Truth and Love. So that was where Truth had to work—in thought.
