Feeling led by God

My story is like that of many. I grew up in a traditional Christian household; as a family we went to church every Sunday. While growing up I became separated not from God, but from church attendance. As I raised a family of my own, we started to attend church on a regular basis, and everything was good. I had gone full circle and returned to my starting point.

Now I come to the part about Truth. I picked up a copy of Science and Health. I read it from cover to cover in a week's time. There was much to understand, and I had to go back and reread many sections. The conclusion I reached can be expressed in one word, Truth. I felt that my whole Christian life had been a path leading toward this book and the Science of Christ, which it presents. I never felt in all my experience that I had been led by God, until that moment. "Christian Science reveals incontrovertibly that Mind is All-in-all, that the only realities are the divine Mind and idea," the book explains (p. 109). My conclusions brought me back to the point of making a decision: how could I continue to be with the church I was a part of and move on to what I can only describe as a revelation of the mind and spirit. How could I move on?

The only way was to act—which I did, slowly, moving forward, not looking back. I thought of the apostles after they witnessed Jesus' resurrection. They could have gone back to their old jobs, forgotten they ever knew Christ Jesus. The fact is they moved on. They did not look back, because the truth of God that he had shown them was something they could not deny.
