I would like to express my joy for a swift and complete healing of malaria.
For many years my daughter and I lived in an area where this disease was very prevalent. Within a few weeks of moving to a different country, we were invited to join a friend and her two teenagers on a trip through a well-known game park further north. We left early one morning, and during that day I became more and more ill, manifesting many frightening symptoms of malaria. I remember little of the day.
That evening, in a moment of coherence, I shared my fears with my daughter. We remembered the words in Science and Health "When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone" (p. 368), and "Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not" (p. 495). And from the Bible, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1).
