Are you alive spiritually, or are you "buried above-ground"?

Do you feel truly alive, or are you just going through the motions of life—buried in a sense of limited expectations, disappointment, fear, worry, anger, greed, sensuality, suffering, or weariness? There is a resurrection to be had in following Christ, the true idea of Life that Christ Jesus lived. Following Christ means rising and then living above the view of existence that holds people down—the untrue view, which says matter lives and dies and takes you along for the ride.

Jesus, rejoicing in the immortality of divine Life, Truth, and Love, let old worn-out material beliefs bury themselves. That's what made him "the resurrection, and the life" (John 11:25). "Follow me," he says, "and let the dead bury their dead" (Matt. 8:22).

Through his life and healing works, Jesus consistently overthrew the people's belief that life is in matter and subject to its "laws." It was that same belief, though, unyielding in its hatred of the truth, that scoffed at his teachings and proofs of spiritual power, and finally crucified him. But for the glory of God, and for your sake and mine as well as his own, Jesus always kept his consciousness above the confines of the material belief that was persecuting him. He lived above material belief through his unswerving trust in divine Truth and his unfaltering love for his persecutors.
