Science and Health—"There is no part of my life it hasn't touched"
It's clear that in recent years, there has been a remarkable opening of human thought—a growing willingness to consider new ideas. The ideas I'm referring to, however, are so different from the normal course of human thinking that an outside observer who hasn't fully investigated them for himself might even wonder why a rational person should take them seriously. And yet these ideas were first placed before the world 120 years ago in a groundbreaking volume titled Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
Although these ideas are radical to a strictly matter-based perception of life and the universe, they are demonstrably practical in human experience, for these are the ideas and truths that express the Science of Life, God, and of man's relation to God—the Science of Christ. They speak of God as pure, infinite Spirit, the one Mind, and of all God's creation, including man, as absolutely and perfectly spiritual. This is the divine reality, which allows for no sin, no sickness, no limitation, no mortality; and it permits not even a semblance of power to evil.
The Science of Christ reveals God, good, as All—omnipotent, all-knowing, omnipresent. As the one Mind, God possesses the infinite capacity to govern His entire creation intelligently and harmoniously. His care is never failing. And man, made in the divine likeness, is understood as the spiritual reflection, manifestation, or expression of God. This authentically good man is, in truth, our own identity, with the unlimited reflected capacity to represent God continuously through all the spiritual qualities that constitute our real nature. Qualities of purity, integrity, wisdom, love, intelligence, holiness, and so on, reveal who we actually are. Nothing contrary to such goodness has a part in man's constitution or his activity. Man knows only good, has only good, expresses only good, is only good.
