I was plagued by migraine headaches for years and learned to live with them, with the aid of pills. Then in a very unexpected way I heard of Christian Science and was subsequently healed. This is how it all came about: One day in the office, where I was working on a project with a co-worker, the phone rang. I heard her tell her husband she could pick him up at his place of business in fifteen minutes. When she hung up she explained that he was not feeling well. Immediately I offered to finish the work so that she could leave, but she just smiled and said there was no hurry (which I thought was a strange answer). Then she made another call that I did not overhear.

We resumed our work together for a bit, and then I offered again to finish the project. She responded that she'd just called a Christian Science practitioner and was sure everything was all right. I did not understand her response, for I had never heard of a practitioner or, for that matter, of Christian Science, and I told her so. Then she explained that Christian Science was a religion based on the Bible, and that it healed people as Jesus had healed. Practitioners were church members who had learned to heal through the truths of Christian Science, and gave full time to their practice of helping others.

Just about that time the phone rang, and her husband said he felt fine and asked her to pick him up at the usual time. This sounded magical to me, and I wanted to hear more. It so happened there was a Christian Science church nearby that held Wednesday testimony meetings at noon, so this co-worker suggested we attend the next day, to which I eagerly agreed.
