I would like to share a healing of grief and loss, which I would have never thought possible without Christian Science.

There are no words to describe the emptiness I felt after my baby passed away suddenly. (This was before I had begun the study of Christian Science.) I couldn't understand why something like this could have happened, and since there seemed to be no other explanation, I began to believe the often-repeated theory that it must have been "God's will." I therefore turned away from God and religion.

I spent the next eight years searching for answers, hoping to find something that would bring relief from my continual sadness. Nothing helped. Finally one day a thought came to me that presented a choice: I could either spend the rest of my life with this grief or I could turn back to God for help. (I had known Christian Science as a child, but had not continued in it.) I desperately wanted to be free, so I quite humbly went and got the book I had loved as a child, Science and Health. I began to read, and something very wonderful happened that day. It was as if the windows of a dark house had been opened, allowing the sunlight to come pouring in. I was filled with a new feeling of hope as I began to search for the truth.
