WHAT BRINGS US INTO THE PRACTICE
A friend's call
Recently one of our contributing editors, Pedro Grieco, spoke with a Christian Science practitioner from Uruguay. She related a healing that took place early in her public practice. We thought you'd be encouraged to read about her experience.
I remember a case when I was just beginning as a Christian Science practitioner. It concerned a five or six months old whose parents were Christian Scientists. The baby's mother had a school friend of my daughter. She knew that we went to a Christian Science branch church and that we prayed to heal ourselves, but she didn't know much more than that about it. I think it was desperation that pushed her to come and ask for help. The reason for her visit was a medical diagnosis that her little girl would never walk properly because one hip was not completely formed. A small bone was missing.
The doctors considered surgery but decided there was little hope of success. You can imagine how a mother with such a small baby must have felt upon hearing this news. I accepted the case and told her that we would pray together. At this point she decided to begin attending our church.
