All one
Too long we moved alone,
Lack in our sense of life,
Not realizing Father-Mother God
Is also Husband-Wife.
No use to snatch at frail, imagined unity,
No use for human love to groan,
Fearful lest the opportunity slip by
And we be ever alone.
Build first our sense of unity with Him—
Best friend, unutterably kind.
Our God of comfort, love, and joy,
Uniting man with Mind.
Thought changes—"lack" becomes "complete"—
He is our All!
Such growth demands expression;
We hear Love's gentle call.
Seeking, finding naught but Love's reflection,
With tender joy and such delight we meet,
So much to bless, so much to share,
So much Christliness to greet.
Such blessing needs our constant care—
If love's to grow, then so we must.
Beware the charming idol, worshiped in God's place,
Whose crumbling feet of clay turn all to dust.
No need to cling, to clutch and hold,
Demanding of each other's time;
Love divine is here forever,
He is yours, and He is mine.
Now love's the deep expression
Of His own love for us, warm as sun.
His ever-presence fills the separation and the waiting,
And "all alone" becomes "all one."
