When I discovered I was pregnant in 1993, I decided to pray in preparation for our new child. I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for suggestions on what topics to study from a spiritual standpoint; some of them were creation, reflection, birth, fatherhood, and motherhood.
A statement describing children helped me to realize that they are perfect and complete ideas of God: "Children. The spiritual thoughts and representatives of Life, Truth, and Love" (Science and Health, p. 582). I also realized that God is man's true parent, and that I was not personally responsible for the health of the child, because God was caring for all of His ideas.
I researched the word reflection in Science and Health, and through this study I realized that God is the only Father-Mother, and that we reflect Him; that God is All, and there is no room for his unlikeness; that the only thing we can inherit is good, because we reflect God; and that our children inherit only good qualities. "God's ideas reflect the immortal, unerring, and infinite" (ibid., p. 505).
