I Turned to Christian Science years ago, at a time of great need; I'd been told by medical specialists that I had three incurable conditions. Accounts of healing regarding these and other illnesses have appeared in earlier editions of The Christian Science Journal.
At that time I was also very concerned about my three-year-old daughter. During the winter she had a cough that did not yield to the various treatments of a pediatrician, to whom I had entrusted her care. When finally she was well, I was told she could not live through another winter without having her tonsils removed. She was very run down from the extended illness, and the doctor gave us a tonic to build her up, saying it would not be possible to remove the tonsils until her strength returned.
I had found Christian Science by then, but not yet fully accepted it or learned to depend upon it for healing. But I could not bring myself to have her tonsils removed. As the next winter was approaching, my husband and the pediatrician were exerting considerable pressure on me to support the operation, warning me of the danger of her taking cold again.
