Once after I fell on the blacktop, there appeared to be injuries to my hands and a knee, and I had a particularly hard time coping with pain in one foot. That night I could not sleep, and I found the foot was too swollen to put on a shoe.
I called a Christian Science practitioner, and she recommended that I study from the Bible and Science and Health, using Concordances. But I could not bear to put weight on this foot in order to walk to another room where all my books were. So the practitioner asked me, "OK, how would you begin your Christian Science treatment?" My first words were to acknowledge that I could not leave harmony, or return to it, because God is unchanging good. The practitioner said, "Fine, now what else?" Then I mentioned that one of the hymns we had sung in church that previous day had included this about the works of Jesus:
