For children
A child's bedtime poem
I stop the wiggles, hush the giggles,
Get myself all still.
I put the noisy thoughts all out,
Let in the soft and still.
Then I hear God's gentle voice,
Peaceful, calm, and clear.
It makes me feel so good inside,
His words of love to hear.
His angels talk in whispers,
Sometimes they even shout.
But one thing I can count on:
They keep the bad thoughts out.
That's how I listen to the Lord
At the close of every day.
His angel thoughts are standing guard.
They chase my fears away.
I shut my eyes, safe in my bed,
The covers warm and tight;
I tuck an angel thought in too,
For company at night.
And if I wake while it's quite dark,
I don't feel scared and lonely.
The angel at my side still sings
Of God's great love for me.
