One morning in August 1990 I was taking my daily shower
One morning in August 1990 I was taking my daily shower. When I went to turn off the water, I inadvertently turned the knob the wrong way, and the water got hotter and hotter until I found myself in scalding water. Because of the steam that had developed, I couldn't see. Finally I did succeed in turning off the water.
During the entire time this was going on, I had prayed unceasingly to God. These words from Daniel came to my mind, referring to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: "nor the smell of fire had passed on them" (3:27).
My daughter-in-law, in whose home I live, brought me clean clothes. When the steam had dissipated, we saw that the burns on my upper body and arm were quite serious. I asked my daughter-in-law not to speak with anybody about this, for I wanted to work the matter out with my heavenly Father in prayer. This she accepted and understood, for which I'm very grateful.
