Christian Science was introduced to me by my husband when we began dating. One day my head was pounding and I asked him for an aspirin. Having been a lifelong student of Christian Science, he kept only toiletries in his medicine chest. At first I thought this was a most unusual approach to life, but that experience opened up a whole new world to me.

We began attending services at The Mother Church together, but it wasn't until we were expecting our first child that I began diligently studying the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I was having complications with my pregnancy, and I was told by a medical nurse that if my body could not sustain a life, for whatever reason, there was nothing that could be done about it. I just could not accept this. My mother had always told me that nothing is impossible to God, so I began looking for spiritual answers.

Throughout my pregnancy, fear was my biggest obstacle, and I knew that I had to conquer it, for as it says in I John, "He that feareth is not made perfect in love." My husband was a great source of strength for me. He always kept his thought free of fear and receptive to spiritual truth. I believe it was his faith, in addition to the prayerful support of a Christian Science practitioner, that kept me going.
