When I was a young teenager, I began to drink alcoholic beverages
When I was a young teenager, I began to drink alcoholic beverages. From the very beginning my pattern of indulgence was excessively heavy. Until my heart became receptive and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy was placed in my hands by a friend, my addiction resulted in a tragic lifestyle.
For several years I carried Science and Health with me in my many travels. At that time it was my foolish hope to gain just enough of Christian Science to lessen the ill effects of my drinking habit, and to carry on with what I thought I loved.
One day I found myself severely intoxicated, and I was visiting with a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner said that he had only one word to say to me, and that word was yield.
