During the more than forty years that I have been a Christian Scientist, I have had numerous healings, some of which I related in my testimony published in the Sentinel in 1966. My wife (who is a lifelong Christian Scientist), my children, and my grandchildren (who are fifth-generation Christian Scientists) have also been benefited by harmonious solutions to a variety of problems. All of these solutions have come through reliance on God.

In 1988, during a service in our branch church when I was serving as Second Reader, I was suddenly and violently attacked by chest pains. On the previous Friday I had had slight pains, which I had more or less ignored. This time I knew I had to pray hard and fast. The spiritual truths that sprang to mind were these: "God is the heart of all," and "It is the flow of God's love that gives me my life." As the First Reader completed the Scriptural Selection, I was free of the chest pains and have been ever since.

Toward the end of that same year I was assailed by pains in my left foot, and in a few days I was limping. The condition worsened; for some time I had to use a walking stick even in the house. The pain continued to increase and I could not find a comfortable position. At one point my wife helped me through prayer.
