During my teenage years I believed that I was homosexual and practised homosexual activities. Progressively, my whole life became affected. School, career, and social interactions all suffered because of what I now consider immoral and unethical behavior. I felt handcuffed, embarrassed, and dependent on momentary pleasures of the body. For eleven years I struggled along, feeling desperately alone with the problem and having no one to turn to.
I knew a little about Christian Science, mainly through reading the international newspaper The Christian Science Monitor. One day, out of a great need for help, I picked up a telephone directory to find the nearest Christian Science Reading Room. Through contact with the Reading Room I learned the telephone number of a Christian Science practitioner.
