New video lecture available
Civic auditoriums, theaters, public parks, church edifices of numerous denominations. The settings for Christian Science lectures vary widely ... but a beauty parlor?
Well, the setting for "Beyond Hope," the new video lecture by Mario Tosto, isn't, strictly speaking, a beauty parlor. It's a theater stage with a set depicting a beauty shop.
Mr. Tosto, a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, makes use of the unusual setting to illustrate several points in his lecture. He also draws deeply on his own experience, explaining how, through prayer, he was freed from the use of alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drugs.
"Beyond Hope" first aired in Texas earlier this year and has since been made available to branch churches, societies, and college organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
At the close of the Texas airings, viewers with questions about the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, were invited to call a toll-free number. Some eighty callers responded. Most asked how they could get a copy of the textbook. One woman said, "What I heard last night spoke to my soul, and I just have to look into this." A man commented, "Something about the program touched me. Can you tell me where I can get Science and Health?"
