The need for mothering

Welling up
in the heart of all mankind
is the need for mothering
in the universe.
The divine mothering
which takes charge,
soothes the brow
beginning to sweat with nightmare,
awakens, comforts,
clears this world nursery
of its terrible toys—

"and on earth peace."
