As I was caring for our infant daughter one Sunday afternoon, I noticed a protrusion from her lower abdomen. My husband, who is not a student of Christian Science, became alarmed and telephoned a doctor.
We met the doctor at his office. He examined the baby and could not locate the protrusion at that time. However, he voiced the opinion that this was a hernia and could reappear. The doctor explained that possibly something had not been completely or correctly formed at birth. He spoke of the problems and complications that could develop and recommended that a surgeon be consulted to correct the difficulty before it became an emergency.
On the way home I expressed my desire to call a Christian Science practitioner. My husband is very supportive of my study and practice of Science, and he agreed. He said that he believed God could heal.
