Working for God
Whether you're struggling with your first job or hoping to change careers after many years in the work force, there is a way that leads to full, satisfying employment.
It isn't unusual for people today to have a variety of jobs during their working years. Some may at some point even completely change careers, as I did. Having gone to a large city to further my musical career, I took a position in the branch office of a prominent newspaper.
It was a temporary arrangement, I told myself, until my big break in music came. After about a week or so of training while busy personnel rushed around trying to make newspaper deadlines and a flashing switchboard demanded immediate attention, I decided this job couldn't be even a temporary one!
But before calling it quits, I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help through prayer. As I poured out my job frustrations, I also became quite vocal about some of the attitudes of my co-workers, adding how their foibles could be corrected.
