The truth about moments

Someone once said, "You can rise to the occasion,"
And somehow I did.
But then it was mentioned, "Whatever goes up
Must come down,"
And, sure enough, I did.
And so it went in my hopscotch of days

Until I learned the truth
About moments in God's service,
That each is a pearl
Fully orbed in the substance of Life,
That these daily jewels are evenly strung
In the strength of the Christ
In a circle of continuous harmony,
Each one polished
By the hand of God.

So now I rise—on the wings of prayer—
To each moment,
Making it an occasion
For the Spirit.
