I am told that at the time of my birth, because of complications caused by uremic poisoning, the attending physician offered little hope that my mother or I would survive. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and through her prayerful work we both lived and were restored to health.
As a child I experienced healings of an abscessed ear, food poisoning, and a dislocated toe, as well as protection from so-called childhood diseases.
At the time I was healed of food poisoning, the practitioner who helped me asked me to memorize two citations that have been of tremendous help to me in many situations. The first is from Hebrews (4:12): "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." And from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 495): "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought."
