For little children
What I know about God
God is good, and
He is everywhere.
God doesn't "pow" you.*
God doesn't knock you down.
He picks you up.
And God doesn't need a band-aid.
You can't see God,
but you can feel His angels—
He talks to you with good thoughts.
You better listen. God makes you
be obedient, because
God just loves you, loves you, loves you.
By Shelley Henderson
*When I asked Shelley, age 3, what this meant, she said the boys at her school sneak up on the girls with their hands held like a gun and yell "POW" very loud when the girls are not looking. She said it scares her. After further discussion of this, Shelley decided the poem meant God doesn't do anything that would scare His children.
