Whom can you depend on?

Even if all human relationships fail, we still have one relation that we can depend on—our relationship to God.

Relationships! How wonderful when they're good! How miserable when they're bad! How lonely when they're gone! But there is a way to deal with relationships of all kinds consistently and successfully. It's a radical approach. It involves a completely different kind of relationship—our relationship to God. And it means making that relationship the center of our lives.

If you think about it, of all our human relationships—to parent, child, spouse, brother, sister, in-law, friend, business associate—none lasts forever, nor can we absolutely depend on any of them to be always harmonious, let alone completely satisfying. Our relationship to God is the only one we have that is permanent, unconditional, always dependable. It cannot be severed by misunderstanding, pettiness, selfishness, anger, apathy, infidelity, or even death.

Christian Science explains that because Spirit, God, is our creator, we automatically have an established, eternal, spiritual relationship to Him as creator and created, as Father-Mother and child. This means each one of us is created by God, divine Love, not materially but spiritually, as His reflection. The working understanding of this scientific fact heals every ill that our human relationships may suffer from.
