God's image is ageless
There's nothing we can do about the effects of passing years. Or is there?
It wasn't until we moved into a retirement community that I began to think seriously about the suggestion of aging. The effects of "getting old" seemed to be everywhere!
Living where all the residents appear to be elderly makes it especially important to see man as vital, active, ageless—the full representation of Mind and of Life. So why strengthen the belief of aging by recording each year as a year that brings more limits to what is good and beautiful in our lives?
Christian Science has a better way. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, states: "Never record ages. ... Except for the error of measuring and limiting all that is good and beautiful, man would enjoy more than threescore years and ten and still maintain his vigor, freshness, and promise." Science and Health, p. 246. We can enjoy the fruits of our labors and expect good health and happiness without "measuring and limiting" them.
