The Christian Science Broadcasting Center has an immediate need for volunteers who are interested in serving as shortwave monitors for The World Service of The Christian Science Monitor and The Herald of Christian Science radio programs. Shortwave monitors will play a very important role in helping us to maintain the quality of reception for our broadcasts. They can provide us with valuable information about general reception in key areas of the world and help to identify interference, should any be encountered. They will also help us in locating frequencies for future use.

Individuals who are interested in serving as monitors need not be technicians or engineers, although experience in tuning shortwave broadcasts and familiarity with shortwave reception conditions are desirable. A good quality shortwave receiver is required, with digital tuning preferred. Receivers similar to the Sony 2001, 2002, or 2010, or the Panasonic RFB60 are satisfactory. Monitors should also have the time available to listen regularly to our broadcasts beamed to their geographical areas—a minimum of twice a week. At times we may need to get in touch with our monitors on short notice, so volunteers should be reachable by telephone.

Those selected as monitors will be sent a full set of instructions and standardized reception reporting forms.
