Dependence on God, not patent remedies

When dependence on drugs to help me sleep caused me to lose my job, I realized something had to change in my life.

The world seems to be telling us at every turn that we are dependent on something other than God, Spirit. And looking at life from a material standpoint would make all this seem quite convincing. But if we understand even a little that life is actually spiritual, things begin to change. We are learning to depend solely on Spirit.

Through the study of Christian Science and spiritual progress, we are enabled to abandon the false concepts of dependence and build upon the infinite opportunities for good that come from God. Since human thought includes material and sinful elements, it needs constant rectification, and this comes about as we recognize our creator to be infinite Spirit, our Father-Mother God, good. What we learn of God through Christian Science brings out man's oneness with Deity and teaches us that in truth we can never be separated from Him. But for the light of Truth to shine in our present experience, we need to refute the suggestion that we are sinful, material beings and give up the faults and material dependencies that would limit our spiritual progress.
