I Have found that when I trust God and apply the teachings of Christian Science, my life improves beyond measure. When I began college I also began to put on extra weight. This slowly continued until I was very self-conscious and unhappy with my appearance. The problem persisted many years despite numerous attempts to solve it by using different diet and exercise plans in conjunction with Christian Science.

One day while I was pondering the situation, it occurred to me that since Christian Science alone could heal disease, it could certainly heal me of being overweight. I determined to apply consistently and steadfastly the spiritual truths demonstrated by Christ Jesus and found in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I began to pray earnestly about this situation and also started reading Science and Health from cover to cover. I knew that many people had been healed by reading the book.

During this period of study and prayer I vowed to trust in God alone to heal me. To prove my complete trust in God and to be sure I wasn't taking a halfway approach, I stopped going to aerobics classes and drinking diet beverages. I started to eat normally, knowing that my real desires were controlled by God. I stopped weighing myself and stopped looking at my body as my source of beauty. My reasoning was that food did not have the power to enslave me, because God governs man; nor could exercise determine my shape, because form and beauty are supplied by Soul.
