Patty finds her voice
It was a quiet morning at Patty's house, not at all like other mornings. No cheery greeting "Where's everybody?" or "What's for breakfast?" from Patty's room. Mother decided to see if Patty had gone back to sleep.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," Mother called as she approached Patty's room. Patty was not asleep, but she couldn't answer her mother. Sitting up in her bed, Patty opened her mouth and shook her head to show that she couldn't talk. Tears glistened on her eyelashes.
"You mean you can't talk this morning, honey!" Mother said. "And last night you couldn't stop talking while you were decorating your bicycle for the school parade. Well, you can't lose anything good, because it is all from God, and we just won't accept this thought of losing your good voice!"
